Sr. Software Developer - CRM
Overview
The Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement (Land & Resources Cluster) is seeking a Senior Software Developer – CRM to join an Agile delivery team in Toronto. The successful candidate will design, develop, configure, and implement complex Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM solutions to support case and customer management priorities across the cluster. This role also contributes to Government of Ontario initiatives arising from the Bill 5, Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act 2025, on an as-needed basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate business and functional requirements into fully tested Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM applications using Agile delivery methodology
- Develop detailed programming specifications, user stories, and design documentation aligned with project standards
- Design, develop, configure, and customize Dynamics 365 entities, fields, workflows, business rules, forms, and views to align with business processes
- Determine and implement integration strategies between Dynamics 365 and other organizational systems and applications (e.g. SharePoint Online, GIS, Azure Cloud SQL)
- Establish and maintain security measures to protect sensitive data and enforce proper access control within the CRM system
- Optimize CRM system performance to ensure smooth operation and responsiveness across environments
- Lead post-go-live support activities including issue analysis, root cause investigation, and resolution
- Support application deployments by preparing code drop/release packages, integrating with DevOps CI/CD pipelines, and coordinating deployments across test, staging, and production environments
- Collaborate closely with business analysts, tech leads, QA, and business stakeholders throughout the full software development lifecycle
- Conduct performance tuning, defect investigation, troubleshooting, impact assessments, and options analysis; recommend and implement solutions
- Actively participate in meetings, workshops, and status reporting; provide accurate estimates and solution options analysis including Proofs of Concept
- Comply with Ontario Government I&IT Directives, standards, operational policies, security procedures, and applicable guidelines
Must-Have Requirements
- 6+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM — including Case/Customer Management design, development, configuration, customization, and full implementation
- Extensive experience with Dynamics 365 integration technologies including Dataverse/Common Data Service (CDS), Data Entities, and REST/OData APIs
- Experience with CI/CD processes and DevOps pipelines for CRM application deployments
- Experience with Azure Cloud SQL and enterprise architecture methodologies and design standards
- Experience with middleware, gateways, and CRM integrations with third-party systems
- Proficiency in JavaScript and object-oriented or third-generation programming languages
- Experience with relational and hierarchical database technologies and query languages
- Strong background in solution design, architectural documentation, and structured SDLC methodologies
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, verbal and written communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
Nice-to-Have Skills
- 5+ years of experience with Microsoft Power Apps and/or Power Pages, including integration with Dynamics 365
- 5+ years of experience with Microsoft SharePoint Online and integration with Dynamics 365
- Experience with Power BI reporting and dashboards integrated with Dynamics 365
- Knowledge and experience with rapid application development (RAD) methodologies
- Knowledge and understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, and policies
- Knowledge and understanding of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and related regulations and standards
- Experience conducting design walkthrough sessions with project teams
- Experience programming Internet-ready applications
- Experience reviewing, analyzing, and modifying product installation and deployment scripts
Work Environment
This is a fully onsite role based at 40 St Clair Ave West, Toronto. The resource is expected to work 7.25 hours per calendar day between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM (excluding lunch), Monday to Friday. No security clearance is required. The team follows Agile delivery methodology, and the consultant will collaborate closely with business analysts, tech leads, QA specialists, and business stakeholders throughout the engagement.
