Intermediate UX Designer x1
Overview
Lotus IT is seeking an Intermediate UX Designer for an onsite engagement with the Children, Youth and Social Services Cluster under the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement. The successful consultant will design user-centered digital experiences for a variety of public-facing services, working collaboratively with stakeholders to deliver intuitive, accessible, and visually compelling interfaces from concept through to production.
Key Responsibilities
- Create effective, user-friendly, and visually appealing interfaces for web and mobile applications
- Design the overall functionality of digital products to ensure a great user experience, iterating based on user-testing results
- Design user interfaces for various project types including digital displays, publications, media, and other creative materials
- Apply a user-centered design approach to rapidly test and iterate on designs
- Conceive and conduct user research, interviews, and surveys, translating findings into sitemaps, user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes
- Design and deliver wireframes, user stories, user flows, user journeys, mockups, and prototypes optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces
- Facilitate the client's product vision by researching, conceiving, sketching, prototyping, and user-testing experiences for digital products
- Identify design problems and devise elegant, strategic solutions related to core and new functions and features
- Gather user feedback to configure and improve existing interfaces
- Leverage AI-powered design tools such as Figma AI, Galileo AI, and Microsoft Copilot to generate design concepts, wireframes, and UI components, and to synthesize user research insights
- Use Google Analytics Intelligence to analyze user behavior and inform data-driven design decisions
Must-Have Requirements
- Demonstrated experience leading the design of complex digital services from concept to production
- Expert knowledge of information architecture and interaction design, user-centered design processes, and user experience principles
- Proficiency in Figma and Axure for design and prototyping
- Demonstrated experience developing key design deliverables including user flows, wireframes, mockups, clickable prototypes, presentations, and reports
- Experience conceiving and conducting user research, usability testing, interviews, and surveys
- Experience designing online services to be accessible by default
- Hands-on experience with AI-enabled design and research platforms, with the ability to integrate these tools into the UX lifecycle to improve efficiency, personalization, and data-driven design outcomes
- Proficiency with digital collaboration and web conferencing tools
- Portfolio of recent work demonstrating UI/UX expertise in designing complex online services (must be submitted with application)
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Knowledge of network security and network protocols
- Experience designing for emotional aspects of human experience in online programs
- Track record of managing competing priorities, meeting deadlines, and client relationship management
Work Environment
This is an onsite role located at 5700 Yonge Street, Toronto. The successful consultant will be expected to work approximately 2–3 days per week in the office from the start date through to March 31, 2027. A Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC) security clearance is required. Candidates must include a digital portfolio with their application, and shortlisted candidates will be required to present their portfolio during a 10-minute interview segment.
