Rate: $125.52/hr
The Land & Resources Cluster and the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness require a Senior Solution Architect to update the Enterprise Architecture for the AgriSuite portfolio. The resource may also be assigned to Bill 5 related initiatives as required. Responsibilities include leading architecture activities, developing solution artifacts, aligning with OPS standards, supporting governance processes, and ensuring effective collaboration across teams and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to project teams and subject matter experts.
- Create, update, and validate all solution architecture models, artifacts, and diagrams according to industry best practices and OPS EA guidelines.
- Collaborate with cluster staff, SMEs, and OPS partners to ensure architecture alignment.
- Develop architecture artifacts using cluster tools and repositories such as PowerDesigner and DevOps.
- Identify risks and issues and support mitigation planning.
- Arrange and facilitate validation sessions and EA meetings.
- Develop reference architecture models and patterns for future use.
- Support governance approvals including project gating, cluster governance, and corporate AGP processes.
- Provide status updates to project teams and EA units.
- Ensure alignment with OPS reference architectures and business materials.
- Support Agile Enterprise Architecture delivery throughout the project.
- Provide knowledge transfer and ensure all artifacts and documents are delivered to the ministry repositories.
Required Skills and Experience
- 10+ years developing solution architectures in government or complex multi-project environments.
- Experience identifying and analyzing business requirements.
- Strong understanding of government, compliance, and regulatory environments.
- Proficiency in enterprise architecture frameworks such as Zachman or TOGAF.
- Experience modeling business, information, application, technology, and security architectures.
- Experience delivering solution and application architectures for enterprise-scale COTS systems (Oracle Siebel preferred).
- Hands-on experience producing EA artifacts/models using tools such as PowerDesigner or Visio.
- Strong communication, facilitation, negotiation, and consensus-building skills.
- Experience supporting governance processes including gating, TRA, PIA, and corporate architecture reviews.
- Knowledge of AODA standards.
Evaluation Criteria
- Application/Solution Architecture – 60%: experience across EA domains, developing artifacts, designing secure and scalable solutions, COTS/SaaS architecture, and modeling tools.
- EA Leadership & Methodologies – 20%: leading architecture projects, supporting governance approvals, preparing presentation materials, and aligning across domains.
- Soft Skills – 20%: communication, facilitation, decision-making, risk management, stakeholder engagement, and consensus building.
