About the Role: The Government Services Integration Cluster seeks a Senior UX Designer to support the Enterprise Data Product Practice, the Data Product Practice Portal, and several 360° data products. The designer will create user-centered, accessible, and visually appealing interfaces that make complex information usable across the Ontario Public Service (OPS).
Key Responsibilities
- Create effective, user-friendly, and visually appealing interfaces for data products, portals, and analytics tools.
- Design product functionality to ensure a great user experience; iterate based on user research and testing.
- Lead user research (interviews, surveys, usability studies) and synthesize insights into flows, wireframes, prototypes, and design recommendations.
- Facilitate workshops (journey mapping, co-design, usability testing) to inform design decisions.
- Ensure designs comply with accessibility standards (AODA, WCAG 2.1) and align with OPS/enterprise design systems.
- Simplify complex information and design for broad adoption and usability across diverse OPS teams.
- Collaborate with product managers, developers, and data teams in agile environments to integrate UX into product lifecycles.
- Communicate design decisions clearly to technical and non-technical audiences; champion OPS partners in user-centered design practices.
Must-Have Skills
- User Experience & Product Design (40%): User-centered design, data product/dashboards design, accessibility, user testing, research synthesis, and iterative prototyping.
- Communications & Collaboration (25%): Stakeholder engagement, design documentation, reports, workshops, agile teamwork.
- Agile Product Development (20%): Experience with sprint-based cycles and iterative delivery (Discovery → Agile → Beta → Live).
- Tools & Technical (15%): Figma, Miro, Adobe XD, accessibility standards, enterprise design systems, knowledge of web development constraints.
Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with Ontario Digital Service Design Standards or equivalent frameworks.
- Experience with SharePoint design/customization.
- Service design principles, end-to-end experience design, and accessibility in dashboards/reporting.
- Contribution to or extension of enterprise design systems.

- Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 3 days onsite/2 remote; 4 onsite starting Oct 20; 5 onsite starting Jan 5 (subject to OPS policy/manager).
