Systems Testing/QA Specialist
Overview
The Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement is seeking a Senior Systems Testing/QA Specialist to join the Enterprise Financial Services Division on a full-time onsite engagement. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and executing comprehensive quality assurance activities across a range of enterprise systems, including Oracle Siebel CRM and Adobe AEM. This role involves close collaboration with developers, business analysts, and project managers to ensure software quality throughout the full systems development life cycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice on testing strategy, test plans, tool selection, and resource identification for large-scale systems
- Plan and organize testing efforts for GUI and non-GUI environments, including systems integration tests, specialized tests, and user acceptance testing (UAT)
- Develop test plans, test scripts, and test cases and execute them across various system components
- Execute functional, integration, system, and regression tests, validating system behaviour under various conditions
- Identify, document, and track software defects using tools such as ALM, JIRA, Bugzilla, and Azure DevOps, working closely with developers to reproduce and resolve issues
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts using tools such as Micro Focus OpenText UFT, Selenium, TestComplete, or Postman, and integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
- Conduct performance, stress, and load testing to ensure systems can handle expected user traffic and data volumes
- Validate data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across system components and databases, including data migration and transformation testing
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and project managers to clarify requirements and ensure overall quality
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives
- Maintain detailed documentation of test results, test coverage, and quality metrics, and provide input for user manuals and release notes
- Ensure testing processes comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and AODA accessibility standards
Must-Have Requirements
- 8+ years of experience working as a Software QA Tester
- 5+ years of experience testing Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) applications
- Experience with defect tracking tools such as JIRA or Azure DevOps
- Experience executing functional, integration, regression, and user acceptance tests across enterprise-scale systems
- Strong knowledge of structured methodologies for application development, design, implementation, and maintenance
- Experience creating testing strategy documentation, test plans, test cases, and test data for various testing types and phases
- Experience with automated testing tools and version control systems on one or more platforms
- Demonstrated ability to write queries to validate data and perform backend testing
- Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies
- Experience developing and executing performance test scripts using tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience testing Oracle Siebel CRM applications (strong asset)
- Experience working on Siebel Test Automation
- Experience testing Adobe AEM
- Experience with Case Management applications
- Knowledge and experience in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Bash)
- Experience testing Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) applications in an object-oriented environment
- Experience coding automated test scripts to produce sets of automated test cases
- Knowledge of Information Management principles, concepts, policies, and practices
- Knowledge and understanding of AODA and related regulations and standards
Work Environment
This is a fully onsite role based at the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement's office location in Ontario, 5 days per week. The consultant is expected to work 7.25 hours per calendar day between standard working hours of 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (excluding lunch), Monday to Friday. No security clearance is required. The team follows Agile practices including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
