Overview

The Government Services Integration Cluster (Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement) is seeking a Senior Full Stack Developer to join their team onsite in Toronto. This is a hands-on technical role requiring deep expertise across the full software stack, including modern Python, .NET Core, NextJS/React, and RESTful API development. The successful consultant will design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and web applications while contributing to best practices and technical excellence within the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and continuously expand data pipelines by performing extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) activities
  • Translate technical systems specifications into working, tested applications including developing detailed programming specifications and writing or generating code
  • Build and maintain RESTful API services using FastAPI (Python) and .NET Core Web API
  • Develop front-end interfaces using NextJS and React.js, ensuring responsive design and testable UI architecture
  • Design and implement overall web architecture ensuring speed, scalability, and security (OAuth2.0, JWT, session management)
  • Integrate front-end UI components with back-end APIs and managed cloud services on Microsoft Azure
  • Manage and optimize MS Azure SQL Server databases including stored procedures, triggers, user-defined functions, and query optimization
  • Implement container-based deployments and application packaging practices
  • Resolve and troubleshoot technical problems arising during the use and operation of software packages, including migrations and conversions
  • Collaborate within an Agile (Scrum/Kanban) environment with product managers, business analysts, and UX designers
  • Lead by example as a senior developer, mentoring staff and fostering a culture of technical excellence
  • Conduct design walkthroughs, unit testing, debugging, and documentation of applications
Must-Have Requirements
  • Advanced proficiency in NextJS and React.js including NodeJS
  • Strong proficiency in modern Python development with proven experience designing and building RESTful APIs using FastAPI
  • Proven expertise with .NET Core Services/Web API and C#
  • Advanced knowledge of UI design, responsive design patterns, and testable UI architecture
  • Strong understanding of Web Security, OAuth2.0, JWT Authentication, and session management
  • Expert knowledge of MS Azure SQL Server including DB encryption, tuning, stored procedures, triggers, user-defined functions, and query optimization
  • Experience with Cosmos DB, Redis cache, and Azure managed services
  • Familiarity with Azure Key Vault for secure storage management
  • Strong knowledge of application packaging and container-based deployments
  • Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban) with cross-functional teams
  • Proven track record of establishing and applying best engineering practices and standards
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
Nice-to-Have Skills
  • High level of knowledge of the Angular framework and JavaScript
  • Experience with front-end languages including HTML, CSS, and AngularJS with server-side and client-side rendering
  • Strong knowledge of SOAP web services and Swagger files
  • Experience with Java WebLogic, Tomcat, EJB, and Servlet-based web applications
  • Strong SQL skills with Oracle and SQL Server
  • Experience with Azure DevOps and JIRA
  • Knowledge of rapid application development (RAD) methodologies
  • Knowledge and understanding of AODA and related accessibility regulations and standards
  • Experience with middleware, gateways, and product installation scripts
  • Fundamental knowledge of UX/UI design principles
  • Experience with Information Management principles, concepts, policies, and practices
  • Ability to provide post-implementation support and resolve technical issues
Work Environment

This is a fully onsite role based at 222 Jarvis Street, Toronto, Ontario, five days per week. No security clearance is required. The team operates in an Agile environment and the consultant is expected to collaborate closely with product managers, business analysts, and UX designers throughout the engagement. Travel expenses are not applicable to this assignment.
