Overview

Lotus is seeking a Senior Systems Testing/QA Specialist for an onsite engagement with the Health Services Cluster under the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement. The successful candidate will lead and execute comprehensive testing strategies for large-scale clinical IT systems, working within an Agile and DevOps environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the quality, integrity, and reliability of public sector healthcare IT solutions, including systems such as Client and Provider Registries and provincial immunization platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice on testing strategies, test plans, tool selection, and resource identification required for testing large-scale systems
  • Plan and organize testing efforts for complex systems in both GUI and non-GUI environments, including systems integration, specialized, and user acceptance testing (UAT)
  • Develop, maintain, and execute test plans, test scripts, and test cases across all components in collaboration with testing leads, IT leads, and project team members
  • Execute functional, integration, system, and regression tests, validating system behaviour across a wide range of conditions
  • Identify, document, and track software defects using tools such as ALM, JIRA, Bugzilla, and Azure DevOps; work closely with developers to reproduce and resolve issues
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts using tools such as OpenText UFT, Selenium, TestComplete, or Postman, and integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
  • Conduct performance, stress, and load testing using tools like JMeter or LoadRunner to validate system scalability and identify bottlenecks
  • Validate data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across system components and databases, including data migration and transformation testing
  • Ensure testing processes comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and AODA accessibility guidelines
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and project managers to clarify requirements and maintain alignment on quality objectives
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives
  • Maintain detailed documentation of test results, test coverage, and quality metrics, and provide input for user manuals and release notes
Must-Have Requirements
  • Experience working with federal, provincial, or broader public-sector healthcare providers
  • Experience with integration of Clinical IT Systems such as Client and Provider Registries
  • 5+ years of experience implementing and executing comprehensive test strategies for web applications within Agile and DevOps frameworks
  • Hands-on experience with defect tracking tools including ALM, JIRA, Bugzilla, and/or Azure DevOps
  • Experience with automated testing tools such as Selenium, OpenText UFT, TestComplete, or Postman
  • Experience executing functional, integration, regression, performance, and load testing
  • Experience creating and maintaining test strategy documentation, test plans, test cases, and test data
  • Strong knowledge of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC)
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills
Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Knowledge of the provincial immunization system and large, complex public sector health IT projects
  • Knowledge of Public Sector Enterprise Architecture artifacts, processes, and practices
  • Experience with performance test scripting using JMeter or LoadRunner
  • Experience testing Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) applications
  • Experience coding automated test scripts to produce full suites of automated test cases
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Bash for automation or test data setup
  • Knowledge and understanding of AODA and related accessibility regulations and standards
  • Experience with information retrieval packages and object-oriented testing methodologies
  • Knowledge of Information Management principles, concepts, policies, and practices
  • Experience conducting basic security testing and collaborating with security specialists for penetration testing
Work Environment

This is a fully onsite role requiring 7.25 hours per day, Monday to Friday (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, excluding lunch), at either 222 Jarvis St, Toronto or 49 Place d'Armes, Kingston. Candidates must be eligible for a CRJMC security clearance. The team operates within Agile and DevOps frameworks, with active participation in Scrum ceremonies expected throughout the engagement.
