Rate: $99/hr
The Labour and Transportation Cluster is seeking a Senior Back-End Software Developer with extensive experience in mainframe development to contribute to modernization efforts in vehicle licensing and safety systems. The successful candidate will develop and support PL/I-based mainframe applications and collaborate closely with business and technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and update system designs, logical and physical architectures, and technical specifications
- Develop and modify PL/I and COBOL code, supporting mainframe and Windows client integrations
- Participate in test planning, code reviews, integration testing, and defect management
- Collaborate with project managers, QA, and DBA teams to ensure deliverables align with OPS standards
- Provide knowledge transfer to I&IT Cluster and RUS staff
Must-Have Skills
- PL/I V4.5+, IMS DB V12+ (HALDB/DEDB) with PLITDLI API, DB2 for z/OS V11+, z/OS V2.2+
- 5+ years writing mainframe PL/I transactions handling XML and web service interactions
- Experience with File Aid, IBM File Manager, IBM Debug Tool, Abend Aid, DFSORT
- Endevor source control, checkpoint restartable BMPs, and SFTP scripting in mainframe environments
- Screen Handling (MFS and SCREENIO), Visual Studio Debugger, Harvest SCM
